Day 29 - Entangled? Not really!

Sitting down and reading my copy of "Entangled Circumstances" didn't take long at all. That is the thing about reading manga in English - it doesn't really take long to read a volume (or Tankobon). When I buy something in Japanese I actually feel as though I am getting a great deal for my money. Most one volume of manga in Japanese cost between 500 and 700 yen plus tax, which isn't actually all that much money. It amounts to $5 - $7, or £3 - £5. That really isn't a lot of money when you consider quality and colour images. It is a good sold product. Add to that the free extras that you get with a newly released edition, and usually something different depending on the store - and it is easily conceivable that you may end up purchasing several copies of the same manga. You will end up with several copies but also with lots of free gifts that you can't buy in the store and only purchase second hand on an auction site. It's worth it in the long run.   The other issue is that I need to sit down and try to read the story in Japanese, which I'm learning. This isn't easy so it takes a while. The length of time I take to read it offset by the cost - makes a Japanese volume great value for money. It may take me half an hour to read it in English while it may take me several hours in Japanese. I'm getting my money's worth.
With regard to this particular manga - it was cutely drawn - if a little sinister - which was wholly glossed over. It was also 6.80 - which doesn't give great value for money. However, if we were all in the yaoi for money - we would be very strange indeed.
